Welcome on my passive house website! :-)

My name is Kinga Berkesi, I am a Architectural Technologist with a keen interested in passive houses.
I achived an architectural degree in Hungary, at the University of Pecs- Pollack Mihaly Faculty of Engineering. Since than I finished a Revit-BIM technician course at Dublin Institute of Technology in Ireland, and a passive house design course in Biberach-Germany.
As far as I remember, I got influence of passive houses at my alma mater in Pecs. There we we had a special guest-lecturer, Mr. Attila Ertsey architect.
Mr. Attila Ertsey presented us a very interesting introduction about his idea of autonom houses. Since than I have not forget his name and his thoughts: how to build up a house using renewable energy resources. That was a very unusual and special field in the building industry in that time in Hungary.
Last year in october I went to the "See the light" conference in Dublin, which was organized by the Irish Passive House Association. ( www.stl.phai.ie ) The one day conference was mainly about the passive house industry recent achievements in the Irish building industry. In the conference we had a famous guest dr. Wolfgang Feist, who is the biggest brain in this field, and who designed the first passive house in Darmstadt, Germany at 1990.
After that I applied for a 2 weeks intensive passive house course via Blanchardstown Institute of Technology, and have got a chance to expand my knowledge in Biberach, Germany. In Biberach, German carpenters built up a conference centre, called Kompetenz Zentrum Holzbau & Ausbau ( www.zimmererzentrum.de) , where senior passive house engineers are teaching their well developed passive house system to students and engineers from all over the world.
I created this website to introduce passive houses for the audience.
In that website you can read:
- what exactly means "passive house"
- what is the connection between the passive houses , the low carbon emission and the global warming
- generally what is the meaning of renewable energies and sustainable design in therms of solar energy and geothermal energy
- what kind of building technologies are in the market to achieve a Passive House certified building
- how does it looks like an award winning passive house
- what are the criteria to get passive house certificate, and how can you reach that
- ... and of course some building physics for those readers, who want to see the research side of the U-value calculation.
